"The French oil company Total S.A. is able to operate
the Yadana natural gas pipeline from Burma to Thailand
despite the European Unions sanctions on Burma. Total
is currently the subject of a lawsuit in French and
Belgian courts for the condoning and use of Burman
civilian slavery to construct the named pipeline.
Experts say that the human rights abuses along the gas
pipeline are the direct responsibility of Total S.A.
and its American partner Chevron with aid and
implementation by the Tatmadaw. Prior to its
acquisition by Chevron, Unocal settled a similar human
rights lawsuit for a reported multi-million dollar
amount."

And I'm thinking about jumping in my vehicle,
traveling far today, somewhere in the woods with the
family. I put gas in yesterday, but I'll have to
fill-up sooner if I go where we might go.
Oil and its' issues pop up in the darndest
places.
Can we really do anything about this?
Pennsylvania is currently in the midst of a
public debate over the installment of more windmills.
Those that live close to these proposed locations say
these windmills will taint the view of their woodsy
mountains. These are places they go to, to get away,
and hunt, fish, or simply walk. The state is
encouraging these windmills for they will supplement
the energy needs with what has become to be thought,
more and more, as a cleaner and less dependent energy
source. With windmills dotting the mountains some say
not only birds will be killed, but instead of seeing
just woods - now a bunch of windmills will be all over
the place. This is what I've heard so far on the
topic. I don't know if a conclusion has been met or
not.
