"The corruption watchdog organization
Transparency International in its 2007 Corruption
Perceptions Index released on September 26, 2007
ranked Burma the most corrupt country in the world,
tied with Somalia."
"As of October 2, 2007, thousands of monks are
unaccounted for and their whereabouts unknown. Many
monasteries are being patrolled by government troops.
There are eyewitness accounts of injured protesters
being burned alive by the military regime in a
crematorium on the outskirts of Rangoon."

Instead of monks, one could place Jews. I wonder
what Chevron is thinking. Are these kinds of business
acquisitions generative or degenerative when it comes
to the greater good?
A similar argument in Myanmar when it comes to
tourism. Some say tourism helps people from other
countries see what's happening, others say that
tourism is just more $ in the military governments
pocket. Still others say tourism dollars reach the
pockets of locals. Also, Russia, China, and India,
amongst others, see Myanmar's human rights violations
as Myanmar's domestic problems, not their problem.
The U.S. currently takes a stand with its' trading and
monetary deficit with China as a good. The U.S.
states that business with China is basically a
non-violent way of helping and influencing China as to
what is good.
