If it makes the "religious traditionalists" feel better, we could invent
some Jesus story like "every new moon Jesus took a bath". Then we could find

some really cool Celtic or Norse pagan custom, combine it with the quaffing
of mead, and call it "an American Christian tradition".

Archeologists have found in the homes of Jesus's day bathtubs or pools that
seemed to be involved in rituals for cleanliness and purification. Now, all
we need to do is stretch that a bit, (a tactic near and dear the theologians
of every stripe) and we could have Jesus bathing everyday.
