[Marsha]
I got rid of Christmas years ago. The Winter Solstice is what I
celebrate, and a return of the Sun's light.

[Krimel]
As Arlo, points out, it is not a coincidence that Christmas falls near the
Winter Solstice. Almost all peoples everywhere and at every time have a
celebration at this time of year. Christians had no trouble adopting their
mythology to the time of year but then neither has anyone else.

I for one celebrate Christmas in a manner in keeping with the customs of my
family and friends. As a rule I oppose any attempt to shut down a holiday
and support every effort to create new ones. I am willing to find
appropriate rituals and festivities to celebrate the birth of Adolph Hitler
if it means a paid day off and an excuse to party.
