Platt said: ...perhaps we should start apply the principles of the MOQ to some moral issues that matter in our daily lives. For example: Is it moral for politicians to promise benefits using other people's money?
dmb says: Maybe the question should be less abstract. Let's look at a particular politician and his actual policies and ask a moral question based on that, eh? Is it moral to waste billions of tax dollars, thousands of lives and a whole world full of good will in order to prosecute a war predicated on fear and lies? Oh, wait. That's not exactly the right question. We KNOW that such a thing is wildly immoral. The question is; should the nation charge him with war crimes and fraud and lock him up forever or simply throw him out of office? I sincerely believe this thug may have destroyed American democracy and that it is essential to treat him as a criminal if we are to ever recover. If the course is not reversed, and I mean now, this year, we are in very serious trouble. This is the tipping point. Anyone who wants democracy rather than fascism in America should be alarmed and motivated to do something about this nightmare. Look up Naomi Klien's "The End of America" on YouTube. It'll only take about 45 minutes to watch her speech. Platt, by the way, did you know that the anti-tax, anti-social services rhetoric used by the Republican party is a code. It is aimed at white racists who don't like the idea of helping non-whites. I think you should be aware because you seem to be quite oblivious to the fact that questions like the one you asked tend to make you look like a hateful bigot. Even if that is true, I assume you'd rather NOT leave that impression. _________________________________________________________________ Get the power of Windows + Web with the new Windows Live. http://www.windowslive.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM_Wave2_powerofwindows_122007 Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
