Well first of all I should have said 'religious faith'

Wrong is wrong as defined by the intellectual level and not some
religious doctrine.

Stealing or killing should be shunned and avoided not because of
religious doctrine but because it does society harm.

Yes some of these religious laws tend to coincide with the universal
laws.

The fact that modern society looks down on capital punishment, while old
religious scriptures ( some religions) tend to favor it in certain
situation, goes to show that intellect trumps religious laws.

Sharia law may have been fine and dandy 1600 years ago, but some of it
does not go well today.
Stoning adulterers may have kept the village entertained for an afternoon
2000 years ago, doing so today may seem out place.
