I would say that life does have a purpose. Its purpose is the continue living, to grow and reproduce itself. I would agree that living things act on this purpose. But that does not mean the inorganic level is purposeful. It does not mean that the invisible hand that underlies the purposeful activities of individuals is in harmony with each individual. It does not imply a grand scheme or an Omega Point or anything of that sort.
