Hi Ham,

As much as I hate to disagree with a good philosopher and friend I suggest
you'll find Pirsig eulogizing the individual in Chapter 9 of Lila where he
describes at length the influence of an "arrant individualist" in changing
the Zuni society. There are many other places where the individual is
prominent in Pirsig's philosophy including a prisoner on death row who,
unless a threat to society,  ought to be allowed to live as one who can
still "respond to Dynamic Quality."  Most of all, Pirsig himself is no
shrinking collectivist violet, often referring to his individualistic self
as "Phaedrus."
