Craig, Steve and Marsha: Sorry but I can't really respond to you simply because
I don't understand what your responses mean. Feel free to try again.

Steve replied:
I was never a part of this conversation, and I have yet to respond to your post
in the other thread (Social Level- Catholic Social Teaching).

dmb says:
Oh. Sorry. I had you mixed up with Peter, whose point was addressed well by
Ron. (Thanks, Ron.)

As far as the other thread goes, you should probably know that I'm one of the
resident anti-theists. I'm a big fan of philosophical mysticism, but this
represents a non-theistic, completely natural sort of spirituality. (This
position draws a lot of fire from persons of faith and from
scientifically-minded types as well.) I think this is Pirsig's position too.
The perennial philosophy (philosophical mysticism) is perennial, he says,
because it happens to be true. In Lila he says that religions are mostly just
social level clap trap, low grade yelping about God and lots of stuff like
that. And yet there have been a few believers who find Pirsig comforting, I
suppose, for his attack on scientific objectivity. I guess this comfort is
based on the idea that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. You know, because
science is seen as religion's chief rival. My point? Please don't take my
irreligious position personally.

Go Blue!
