[Platt to DMB]
Thank you Paris Hilton -- like totally awesome. The Messiah has come. Let us all worship the Messiah. But first, make sure you tires are properly inflated.

"Its like they take pride in being ignorant." Thanks.

[Platt]
Elitism personified. Thanks.

[Arlo]
If the evidence for "elitism" is "mocking derision", then you give two examples here of being an elitist yourself, on top of the proudful ignorance of your first reply. And now I've given two as well. So we are both equal elitists. Do you eat arugula? I do. Although I can't stand lattes. And I drive a F150 pickup, not a Buick. I also do not think non-white culture is "inferior" to white culture. So who's the bigger elitist?

But "elitism" has to be one of the most ridiculous talking-points of this campaign. What's McCain's campaign slogan, "Vote for me, I'd probably make a terrible president"? (Thanks Jon Stewart). Just like the Paris Hilton distraction, and the idiotic mocking of the tire inflation remarks (according to the NHTSA, families would save .12/gallon if they maintained proper tire inflations levels, an immediate savings that would consist of more per family savings than the proposed eventual (but not guaranteed) savings oil companies claim we will see if we allow unfettered drilling on protected lands), it evidences just what DMB's point was, that real political dialogue in this country has nearly entirely given way to moronic soundbites and proudly ignorant distortions.

And Franklin's prescience is demonstrated every time this rears its head.
