Micah, Platt, Woods

Micah began by stating:
> > Slaves were and are society without money.

I don't know but think that the Greeks (Cities) had both and I know that
the Romans kept slaves and used money .. even shares and had a
hefty stock market.

Then Platt:
> Right on. And to the degree you are taxed on your income, you are a
> slave - forcibly denied from possessing the fruits of your labor. The
> income tax is a low quality social pattern designed to redistribute
> wealth on the Marxist principle of "From each according to his
> ability, to each according to his need."

I agree with much of what you say Platt, but the pure self-reliable
individual (economy) has not existed since ... since money. Also,
there's a aspect of "from each according to ...etc." in all human co-
existence.

And finally woods:
> Without personally delving too much into the Marxist stuff, I
> completely agree with you, Platt, on the income tax. I've heard there
> is NO law that we have to pay the federal income tax; but we do it
> anyways because we're told to or else we are threatened with police
> action and prison. I've heard we are under law to pay federal income
> tax, and then I've heard we are not and I've seen in documentaries were
> court decisions have not imprisoned people that evade federal income
> taxes. Yet, some people are imprisoned if they don't pay their federal
> income taxes. Does anybody truly even know? I do find the federal income
> taxes and other taxes to be an evasion on freedoms and a harm to
> happiness, i.e. poverty and crisis issues. As said before, not to rid
> taxes in general in this monetary system, for I understand the need for
> taxes, but we need a more flexible capitalist system (I've brought up
> fair tax before).

It's the same all over the world, declaring income and paying taxes is
mandatory. But my issue is "slaves" as if we don't have them these
days. There are experts who worry about the future, due to automation
there are constantly fewer people who pay taxes and this will
jeopardize future pensions, social security ...etc. They fail to see that
automatons, robots, machines are the one that work and pay taxes
through their firm. I'm so old that my first school day math tasks were
like this "Ten men dig a ditch in so and so many hours, how long will
...etc". An excavator do the job of a thousand men, thus infinitely more
work is done and capital created these days. My worry is that so many
stupid people are hired as "experts".
