[Platt]
Rather, the Republicans have sought to allow people to keep what they earn
by reducing taxes across the board. They went astray on spending. As for
next week's election, the "gullibility" (as you put it but which your
fellow lefties called "stupidity") of one's fellow citizens is likely once
again to prove to be true. The beacon leads to despotism.

[Krimel]
Earlier you said, "Today, Americans spend more on taxes than on food,
shelter and clothing combined." IF this is true, it is only true of the poor
and the middle class. Of the rich it is assuredly NOT true. It is a result
of the conservative distortions that make regressive taxes somehow sound
palatable to folks who think that someday they will be Carl Icahn or Ken Lay
and they too will be able to suck at the tit of regressive policies. If in
fact the rich paid their "fair" share of income taxes, the poor and middle
classes wouldn't need to pay any at all.

As for "going astray" is that some euphemism for totally abandoning the
"principles" you claim are most central to your philosophy. Oh wait, you
have to have some principles to actually abandon them.

Despotism? Again the fear mongering conservative dictionary seems not to
have been written on Planet Earth.
