It is not too far a stretch for the imagination to reproduce the behavior through hypnotism. Since DQ/Conscious is undefined, it is hard to know how it is reproduced by "being in a trance" except as a analogous to Mechanical which would leave the conscious feelings out.
Andre: Hi Joe, my understanding is first of all that NLP is not into any theorising at all, it very clearly states that if something works that's fine...they leave the 'how exactly did it work'?... to the theorists. NLP is also grounded in language, i.e. a static social pattern. In this sense it works purely at the social level (your Mechanical). The thing is that, when a person is able to experience a 'new' (new for this person) static pattern (i.e. a pattern this person would really like to feel better, function better, see things better, think better etc etc), it is experienced as more or less dynamic.( a sort of a 'minor quality experience). All this works at the social/language level by applying simple insights from transformational grammar. This, of course also points to the problem of language itself, being a hypnotising factor (cutting us off from the 'continuous esthetic flow') Language has a tendency to halt/to stop/to define, to latch??). It makes the creation of static patterns possible ( socially and intellectually). What B&G have tried to do is to find a way, through language itself, to try and 're- connect' one's linguistically/cq intellectually interpreted experience as close as possible to the experience itself. What your observation refers to is indeed not a feeling of DQ, this is undefined and should remain so, but what can be achieved within SQ itself. I really think that we haven't touched on a blip yet of what is possible within what we have already created for ourselves. Give anyone species too much rope and they'll fuck it up ( Roger Waters) to which I would substitute 'rope' with 'level'. Does this make sense?
