PS: The way culture is being discussed here is from the point of view of groups; Forming of groups is seen also in other primates, dolphins etc. Ultimately, people join groups because to be in a group has potentially better survival prospects. In early primates the survival value of being able to remember who was in which group gave rise to a brain necessarily capable of storing that information. In humans the brain became a complex bio-machine able of store countless behavioural instructions for interacting with others in their group. Nowadays we are swamped, deluged with these instructions as they variously stream through our consciousness together with their concomitant effect on the body to enact the associated behaviour.
