just a quick point:
dq needs to be hindered. too much dynamism leads to degeneracy - pirsig is 
clear on this. intellectual sq patterns need to be flexible in order to 
maintain an optimal dynamic/static balance. rigid laws are not the way either.

remember what bob said about 'care'? i think that is central here. the ethical 
spine of an intellectually guided society is care. the ethics of permaculture 
are: care of the earth, care of the people and share the surplus, in no 
particular order.

care....what is 'care'? interesting that the legal system often invokes the 
phrase 'duty of care'...but this seems like a superficial rendering....not 
really care but the avoidance of litigation, or at best doing the 'right' 
thing. true care is existential - it is to be affected by the situation, by the 
situation of *others*. it is felt.

if we care for the planet, each other and ourselves.....what need for laws?

maybe the question is why don't we care?
