Maybe we can all agree that the demagogy that leads to slaughter whether perpetrated by atheists or the god-fearing is undesirable? Why is belief in gods relevent here? It seems clear that both believers and nonbelievers are susceptable to such appeals to racism, fear, xenophobia, nationalism, etc. The solution seems to be encouraging a taste for evidence in support of our core beliefs and fostering solidarity with our fellow humans of all stripes in our desires to create a better future through win-win solutions to our common problems(multiculturism at it's best?).
