Matt:
We all remember that Pirsig, following Aristotle, said that "first philosophy" is called "metaphysics." We should bear in mind that Aristotle's redactor is the one that named that collection of manuscripts "Metaphysics." What did Aristotle actually call "first philosophy" in the Metaphysics? Theology. Ron: Right on the money Matt, the biggest mistake is to project Quality as a Teleological arguement. This however does not mean that MoQ takes a methodologicaly naturalistic stance. Some may say that theological inquiry seeks to reconcile faith with reason but even before this, as Aristotle suggests, is the reconciling of the phenomena of "be-ing". Even more curious is how this abstraction of selfhood, the "I" is of particular fascination for the Indo-european languages. _________________________________________________________________ Get more out of the Web.
