[Bo] I see the Oriental Culture as more advanced than the Euro- American one, if that is your newfangled humanitarian worry.
[Krimel] Wow, that one goes right to the top of my collection of Bo's most clueless statements. Advanced? Advanced how? The fundamental tenant of Buddhism is that cure for suffering is the elimination of desire. This reminds me of my brother. His favorite saying is that when all else fails lower your expectations. He lives in a shed. This is a philosophy that breeds passivity and subservience in the population. Sure we had slavery but the Hindus have their caste system which was hardly more humane. So are you saying that Oriental Culture is more advanced because their "untouchables" did not require whips and chains to know their place? As I have said before I think submitting to the will of a God whose nature cannot be known is functionally equivalent to killing desire but at least it leaves the population with hope for a new day and a brighter future for their children. The Oriental dream for a bright future is to be dead, completely dead with no reincarnation, no nothing: Dead. It is one thing for a nihilist to see that dead is dead, that's how it is, and another for the "enlightened" to make it their goal.
