Krimel: As I have said before I think submitting to the will of a God whose nature cannot be known is functionally equivalent to killing desire but at least it leaves the population with hope for a new day and a brighter future for their children. The Oriental dream for a bright future is to be dead, completely dead with no reincarnation, no nothing: Dead. It is one thing for a nihilist to see that dead is dead, that's how it is, and another for the "enlightened" to make it their goal.
Andre: Krimel, I know that freedom of speech through expressing your opinion was an intensely fought for intellectual pattern of Quality. This highly valued moral code, among others, established the supremacy of the intellectual order over the social order. By judging and condemming 'Oriental culture' from the premiss of your religion (a social pattern of value) is, to say the least, arrogant. It also shows me that you are not deserving of using this moral code...some intelligence and responsibility is required to keep it an intellectual pattern. Otherwise you abuse/devour it to meet/justify your own religious purpose and conviction. I consider that an immoral act. The argument you put forward using your understanding of buddhism shows me that you know sweet fuck all about Buddhism and even less about 'Oriental culture'. Please refrain from condemming what you do not understand. [Krimel] I was not "judging" anything. I was commenting on Bo's judgment which as usual is flawed. He was commenting on the Superiority of Eastern culture. A view shared by many here. I was not condemning Eastern culture; I was merely saying it is not without flaw and there is little basis for calling it "superior". The fact is I have often been critical of attempts to condemn other cultures in light of our own and I have been quick to point out some of the failing and hypocrisy of western culture. This forum is not without its bigots, Platt, Ham and Bo are all guilty. Your hero Bo makes blatantly anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim comments in nearly every post and reveals his shallow understanding of theology, history, philosophy and the MoQ at every breath. I was just adding a particular comment to my list. That said, exactly where in what I actually said do you find error? Are you saying that Buddhism does not advocate passivity and the elimination of desire? Are you saying that Hinduism and Buddhism do not aim towards escape from the cycle of death and rebirth? Because if my understanding is faulty I will be quick to apologize. If not go, fuck yourself; sweetly.
