Did you have a say in re-drafting the 14th Amendment via your representative

legislators as is your right under the Constitution? No. You may not see
that as
a loss of freedom, but I sure do. I want a say in it if we are going to
modify the
Constitution. So did the framers of the Constitution which is why they gave
us,
the people, not the judges that right.

[Krimel]
The Court did not "re-draft" anything they did exactly what they are charged
with doing: they interpreted the law. They did not modify it one whit. The
framers of the constitution recognized the need for this and built the
function directly into the document. Judges do not write law except in the
twisted minds of the religious right, whose penchant for warping language
makes any kind of interpretation problematic.

The 14th Amendment was written when there were already 36 states with laws
restricting abortion. I wonder how it is that 7 Judges in the 1970s could
take it
upon themselves to determine what the 14th Amendment "actually" meant to do
to the Constitution when they wrote it better than its framers over 100
years
before them.

[Krimel]
Well Mr. Civic's Whiz, this is news to me. When the 14th amendment was
written there were only 37 states in the union. I have not bothered to check
on this but I seriously doubt that 36 out of 37 had such laws. Those 7
judges took it upon themselves to determine what that amendment "actually"
means because that is what we pay they to do. That is what the constitution
charges them with doing.

[MP]
Point is: why not dump R v.W and either: amend the Constitution as is our
right
as the people to provide a right to privacy, legislate a national law on
abortion or
some combination of both?

[Krimel]
Why not pump helium up an elephant's ass and see if it will fly? The matter
is settled. Whining is futile. But hey, grab a sign, go protest, shorten the
line at IHOP.
