Krimel:
On the surface at least Northrop's book seems to be primarily about
international politics. It was written during the cold war and spoke to the
need for finding common cause among peoples of disparate colors and creeds.

Andre:
Hi Krimel: Actually it was published in 1946 and covers definately more than
international politics. I have read it and will not claim to understand
everything (I will re-read it and use as a reference). However, it has shed
loads of light on national (internal) and international relations (not only
politically, but also religious, economic, social, ideological from the point
of view of the undifferentiated/ differentiated aesthetic continuum)
analysing the situation of specific countries. It is a difficult but
important book and has also deepened my appreciation of Pirsig's work.
I can highly recommend it Krimel. (I purchased a wonderful, beat up
second-hand copy via amazon.com to keep it affordable.[couldn't get it here
in Holland].

Regards
Andre
