I wonder if for example that a school of fish respond to stimuli of biological symbology. visual symbols of shadow and form in this perpective instinct is symbol recognition but I understand your meaning with purposful manipulations of those symbols, it's what makes jokes funny, it's inducing experience via symbology for a purposful intent which as you say, is a highly recognizable trait in human societies.
