Lu to Andre: Thank you for the kind welcome! I assume you're speaking tongue-in-cheek here, but I really like your outlined marriage course. I would just cut it off at the part where you actually follow them into the marriage - especially the CCTV thing - a bit too "big brother".
Andre: Hi Lu and, yes, it was tongue-in-cheek (mostly) but because you were quiet for a few days I was worried about having fobbed you off or something. You are welcome! The CCTV thing is not meant to ridicule your concerns. There is a program here in Holland (not hundred percent sure if it is actually practised or serious investigations as to its application are taking place) but it has to do with a large group of people who are mentally limited (hope I say this correctly), want to live together and have babies. Their parenting skills leave much to be desired and some horrific examples of neglect and death (of their young children) have resulted. To accommodate their rights as human beings on being allowed to live as 'normal' people' (get married, have sex, living independently etc) various Govt. agencies are looking into this CCTV thing to literally keep an eye on them in their home re their parenting/ caring skills in the name of looking after the welfare of the child. I know the MoQ is about choice but seriously question this development and maintain ( I have worked as a social worker for 12 years in the public service) that SOME couples should never have become parents, and this is not limited to some couples of the group I mention here of course. Lu: I don't want the government legislating marriage. What I would like is for society as a whole to adopt a healthier, Quality view of what any marriage should be, and for individuals to advocate for that, and then the government would simply recognize society's agreed upon criteria for marriage, and anyone who qualified could be married. Andre: Some people on this discuss (and many outside it) see 'government' as the incarnation of evil itself. Government is supposedly a representation/ reflection of society and as such can be regarded as some sort of mediator between organic/social PoV's and intellectual PoV's. Look upon it as someone in middle-management. It is a very thankless task because rarely do you please both parties. And because it is a social PoV is is questionable whether it is the appropriate 'authority' to fulfil the role of intellectual guide. (sorry to put it so awkward). Its role has been adequately described by Arlo (f.ex.) as an enabler e.g. provider/planner of infrastructure etc. Of course, Pirsig has analysed this schizophrenic relationship in Lila. It needs to decide whose side it is on but as said I question whether it is the appropriate forum. It has become so entrenched in economic interests I doubt if it can afford to decide. In the mean time, I'll stick with Pirsig's judgements re socio political/ economic programs and follow a more individual approach through the heart, head and hands and let this spread around my friends, family etc etc. Lu: wouldn't it be great to have a University of Dynamic Quality Andre: Yes, education can play a very important role in this. The realisation that All is One, the tat tvam asi is a revelatory experience. I think children have no problem with this. It is only after twenty odd years of (current) education that the connections have been severed (and trying to re-claim some of it through insisting on their own piece of, for example, private property...a sort of compensation for the loss of... [now this is tongue in cheek but contemplate it for a minute]). Lu: Phew, I'm all dizzy now from the exertion of trying to put words together in an order that intellectuals can understand - Andre: I am certainly not an intellectual.( I like the KISS principle...keep it simple stupid). The MoQ is for all of us and I also have trouble sometimes following all these words and concepts flying around here. We should keep our language as simple and clear as possible. Lu: I'm going back to bed (well you said that's how I can have certainty, didn't you?). Andre: If you cannot find certainty now you never will. As gav said (I think) the world is perfect... now. Sleep well and sweet dreams.
