[Arlo] As far as this predates the mass production that it spawned, yes, for sure. But "artisanry" or this form of craftsmanship did not originate with the Victorians. It goes way back, indeed it is the social codes of the Victorians that created the system that strangled the craftsmanship Pirsig talks about in ZMM. Unless you want to suggest the Victorians somehow were the originators of "craftsmanship"... [Platt] I wonder, though, what "Early Hippie Thinking."
