Hi Ron, What I was trying to impart was that there is more to this world than opposites. A chair does not have an opposite. The presence of a chair does, that is, its absence, But the chair itself does not. Isn't it possible to discern what is real and what is not by wether it has an opposite? Think about it.
I could have used table instead of chair, but then I guess we could always table the chair idea. As you state, there is no "non chair" opposites are implied in concepts. the concept of a thing, immediately suggests no-thing but we speak about nothing as if it were a thing. "chair" is a very general word to denote usefulness it could be a position one holds on a comittee or anything used to sit apon what kind of chair? -Ron ----- Original Message ---- From: markhsmit <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, August 25, 2009 11:58:56 PM Subject: Re: [MD] Consciousness (explained?) What it illuminates is the object.
