[Ron to Platt] Sandra Abrevaya, U.S. Education Department spokeswoman, notes that President George H.W. Bush addressed the nation's students on live TV in 1991.
[Arlo] "Why is it political for the president of the United States to discuss education?" asked Newt Gingrich, who was then the House Republican whip. "It was done at a nonpolitical site and was beamed to a nonpolitical audience. . . . They wanted to reach the maximum audience with the maximum effect to improve education." (Gingrich talking about the event Ron mentions) Platt's moronic squalkings only continue to demonstrate the absolute worst of political hyperbole. Notice he used "death panels" yet again. What a fucking idiot, an embarrassment to us all. [Platt] More hate-spewing from a pointy-headed leftist. [Arlo] Calling a spade a spade is not "hate spewing", its just being accurate. Please stop squalking "death panels", its an embarrassment to the intelligence of the forum. Ron. for what its worth, I'll comment on your substantive point further. The democrats who voiced opposition to Bush addressing schoolkids in a national broadcast were wrong. But I struggle to find evidence of the absolute moronic vitriol that surrounds Obama's broadcast. And, of course, the same people squalking now, like Gingrich, had no problem at all with the Bush address, as Gingrich says clearly above.
