Yes, Arlo, I agree with you.? It is not about levels of

increasing importance, or even leves encompassing

other levels.? It's more about circles, as was

discussed by Kierkegaard.

Mark:
All these levels of increasing self-importance.? All that I
hear is the Ego.? Perhaps a class in Freudian
psychology will put you at ease.

Then again, it's good to think that somehow you are better
than a rock, if that is what you need to give purpose.

Andre:
Hi Mark, Bodvar can speak for himself but I am sure that he does not mean
what you imply (which is some statement to make).
I woukd say: to each level her/his due. It is not 'increasing 'self
importance' but increasing freedom from static conditions. The inorganic/
chemical 'automatic reactions ( according to the laws of physics), the
organic 'instinctual' reactions to its environment ( Laws of the jungle)
and, when we enter the social level it becomes tricky. More freedom to play
around with at this level.

Are there 'laws' governing social behaviour?

I believe only to the extent they are biologically driven but stand to be
corrected. The social level is very tricky and even Pirsig would admit to
this only having suggested broad outlines of/for moral conduct.

By the way, I do not consider myself 'better than a rock' , my ego is not
that far developed. A rock is an inorganic PoV and a human becoming is an
amalgam of all PoV's not fulfilled as yet.

Cheers and now I'd better hit the sack.
