Arlo:
As I said, this S/O alienation as the foundation
of "capitalism" has left us with a system that
sees human beings as "resources", commodities to
be bought and sold on the market with no
consideration towards anything but how they (as
resources) effect "profit". While GM execs give
themselves millions in bonuses, they lay off
thousands of workers. And the reason for this is
that the same S/O mentality that underscores
"reason" also underscores "reason's child"- capitalism.

Andre:
Great posts Arlo, but I think you're flogging a near dead horse.
Platt, and his fellow Plattonians have an ideological belief system
from which they 'see'. There is no way in the world they will change
this belief system because of the heavy investment in it...and it is
not only property, money, wealth and celebrity. Their entire identity is
based on it and they will twist and turn and distort anything and
anybody who is not 'with' them.

He's been doing this for years now.

I loath myself for implying the term 'us and them' in a similar way
Phaedrus recognised within himself what a S/O division had done to
him... what it had made him into.
Fortunately Phaedrus has moved on and so have I but I am afraid the
Plattonians have not and are still strong and very, very anti MoQ. Or,
perhaps the term 'opportunistic' regarding the MoQ is better. It seems
to me they have learnt nothing over all these years.

I think it best (for myself) to ignore it. It is like giving a child
no attention when it is 'good' and loads of it when it is not. One
only reinforces the negative behaviour. See(!) my argument has even
reached the level of Skinner's behaviorism.

Synchronicity point: I was reading the exact same passage you quoted
from ZMM ('The city closes in on him now...') when I scrolled down to
find your post. Remarkeable!!

Kind regards
Andre
