Hello Platt 3 Mar. :

Somewhere Pirsigs says "The Quality evolution isn't towards, but away from all static grips". It's just me a compulsive "systematist" who can't (after Pirsig went to such length about the element carbon's role in the inorganic-organic migration) but search for the "carbon" in all level transitions. Regarding the biological-social one I think it was the big-brained Homo Sapiens organism that were the social evolution's building block, that's pretty obvious because the Q-social only refers to humankind. When it comes to the social-intellectual - and IMO ZAMM describes the event in Greece - it must be a SOCIAL pattern ...no? I've wondered if was the city state that provided the leisure for activities beyond the social chores and duties ... well that's as far as I hve come, but the "freemdom urge" goes a long way.
