mr carl quoting Penrose is comic on many levels. Penrose is missing the
whole Wolfram demonstration of emergent complexity that is beyond
mathematics (the book is called a New Kind of Science and all 1200 pages are
now online), and results from some of the SIMPLEST rules we can model.
Horse correctly points out its been dismissed by modern cognitive computing
research as simply epiphenomenal at best, a distraction at worst.

We dont need to understand quantum gravity to know how a cell is alive, we
dont need quantum mechanics to understand how the eye works. AI will
emulate the whole complement of human self awareness subroutines within 2
decades at the most. Opinions from non domain experts are actually not
worth very much, because equally smart people have spent more time looking
at the problem and have tested the intuitive insights a while back, there is
real progress occurring today, but that means keeping up with the pace of
discovery. Anyway, we moved to genetically modified super intelligent
humans as the example in order to overcome the tendencies of the anti-AI
crowd, the discuss is identical as it pertains to the morality of MoQ. The
deepest question is how much compassion does MoQ remove were we to
consistently to implement it.

Cheers,
