Socialization starts after we're born. Obviously. There's nobody around to socialize with before we're born. Within the first minute, a baby's gaze is on it's mother's eyes. You can draw a circle and put two dots corresponding to where the eyes should be, put it on the wall and that's where an infant's gaze will lock. They have a built-in urge to socialize. So I guess it's a matter of quibbling over labeling then. Since they are attempting to socialize, I'd call that a socialization process. Since it's built-in, you say it's on the biological level.
