Hi Mark That is understandable. In a first draft, the writer knows what he wants to say but it might not be clear to the reader as yet. That's what second and subsequent drafts are all about. If you notice, in LILA, Robert Pirsig switches third person limited point of view from Phaedrus to Lila to Rigel and back again. But he does it chapter by chapter. For instance, in chapter six, the story is told from Rigel's point of view. Chapter 18 is told from Lila's point of view. Chapter 19 is told from Phaedrus' point of view. But notice as well that he also uses third person omniscient in places too, like the first chapter (Lila didn't know he was there). It is a very complex form of writing that takes a long time to master. I experiment with it but (of course) have yet to conquer it to my satisfaction. Again, thank you for your interest.
