I'd say he's just plain right about this, literally or figuratively. This
is the basic evolutionary hierarchy of his ideas.
So how do evolutionary-psychological come in? They're pretty fundamental,
e.g. around mating.

I don't agree that's "their" foundational myth. Such generic things are
about along the line of "Frenchmen like to tea X."
