Steve said to dmb:
Here again it seems you are disagreeing with Pirsig who apparently saw the need
for such explication as MRB quoted from a N.Y. Times interview... [Mr Pirsig]
conceded that while he hoped his new book would "open a million doors," he
still had further work to do "on where exactly love fits in to the metaphysics
of quality."

dmb says:

Really? You're going to base your point on a fragment of sentence containing
Pirsig's answer to a NY Times interview question about "love", a question that
the reviewer doesn't even bother to show us?

Dude, that's so weak. The article begins by saying that the character of Lila
stole the show so much that some people read it like a romance novel and the
bulk of it is about how Pirsig has not written that kind of book. His second
book is his attempt to be taken seriously as a philosopher and you're going to
find fault in the fact that he doesn't use "love" as a central term in his
metaphysics? Frankly, I think that's just an idiotic criticism.
