Chalmer, and maybe Strawson too, would expand physics to include consciousness, recognized as a new force. Consciousness would become a fundamental principle in the universe; a fundamental principle that operates throughout the universe and all the way down. The position he is arguing for is called panpsychism: everything, electrons included, has an aspect of consciousness. Everything has a phenomenal side, as well as a physical side. Everything has some form of subjective experience. Consciousness pervades the universe in all its parts and all the way down. Everything is conscious. There is something attractive about Chalmer's position. Toss out 'physical side', replace it with static quality and it has possibilities, at least possibilities worth considering. But there is so much more to learn. ___ Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org/md/archives.html
