Despite all the hubub that Dan obviously did not intend on making public,
he did bring up Matt Kundert. I have been thinking about what Matt would
criticize as correspodence theory in regard to MoQ's theory of truth and it
brought up the notion that MoQ really does not replace correspondence theory
but it most certainly expands it. In regard to the analytic philosophy and the
linguistic turn, we begin to see how words are linked to meaning when we talk
about how we arrive at truth statements. I think Aristotle said it best when he
explained that the true is true by way of belief and belief is "that in which
we
are prepared to act apon" which I see the awareness and understanding
of VALUE playing a huge role.
IN this manner of understanding VALUES we can see how RMP clarify's
the issue of "Truth" as a value set. Since the highest evolutionary level is the
intellectual level and "Truth" is the highest intellectual quality pattern of
value,
The practice and art of truth telling is the most excellent and most valuable.
BUT if one does not value this ideal, the beliefs in which they are prepared
to act apon vary in levels of value. The reasons and explanations are less clear
more determined and are composed of more rigid patterns of static quality,
that of social level cultural patterns or reactionary views towards them or
worse,
biological patterns, which are even more rigid and static.
In conclusion, the following of Dynamic Quality is the following of clarity in
meaning
the value of the art and practice of truth telling. The love of wisdom and the
art of
the philosopher, life at it's eternal best. This pursuit, this love, this VALUE
should
never undercut lower patterns of value but as the ancient Greeks liked to say,
those who do not value truth do so out of ignorance. To clarify, that they
are so invested in their beliefs that they know no better or care to know
better.
Excellence is defined by an entirely different level of values.
This would explain intellect being seen as evil, wrong headed and bad, going
further
from Quality instead of coming closer and the value level would support those
beliefs.
As with "freedom", people say they value "Truth" but they really don't know WHAT
Truth IS. What they mean is Dynamic Quality. But when the reaction is away from
a
low quality social patterns and intellect is evil there is no where to go but
to biological
patterns of quality.
