Fair enough, and I do appreciate your comments.  And you may not try to be
a teacher but that doesn't mean people can't learn from you.  I'm always
interested in new readings of ZMM and LILA, especially from someone who has
devoted so much time and effort to understanding Pirsig.  I guess in this
case I came here to back up my own interpretation, primarily.

For its reconstruction, I say.  Rather than recanting I think of context
(2) as something akin to a "return to the marketplace" with Phaedrus
returning from above the timberline in ZMM down into the valleys and rivers
of LILA, or something like that.  You can see why I have no published
novels.
