Marsha to dmb:
Let's see how RMP describes the MoQ's first and most important distinction: In the Pirsig-McWatt Letters 1993-98 PDF, you will see that Pirsig suggests (in a 1997 letter) that "patterned" and "unpatterned" were terms he could have used instead of "static" and "Dynamic". So, I have DQ as unpatterned: not divisible, not definable and not knowable; undifferentiated - nondualistic, "not this, not that", "neti, neti" (the Vedic terminology)

Andre:
Footnote in Anthony's PhD:
'It's worth noting that Pirsig (1997d) considers the terms 'patterned'and 'unpatterned' as synonyms for 'static quality' and 'Dynamic Quality' though the former terms are usually avoided due to a problem of ambiguity with 'unpatterned'...'

Did you get that Marsha?! The terms 'patterned' and 'unpatterned' are usually AVOIDED due to a problem of ambiguity with 'unpatterned'. I thought I'd write it out again in case you missed it.

I suspect you insist on using these terms because of the posibility of ambiguous interpretations so that you can pull your Lucy tricks again.
