Thanks Ant,

Always been a fan of high irony (as well as British humour - which might be
a tautology but oh well, there it is ) and yours certainly tops all.

Of course, when exaggerated to the height of ridiculousness... well it does
lose a bit of ... effect. But good try.

Somebody copped you to the fact that Hawking is not my favorite guy -
something to do with this statement that philosophy is dead no doubt.
Would you be happy over the pronouncement of the decease of your true
love?

J: Too be sure Ant, when I first joined (wan't it sometime in 99 Dan) I
paid very serious attention to all the rules posted a that time but since
then I've just floated in and out, here and there as the muse moves me til
we come to the present day and I joined at the pleasure and invitation of
the moderator and I assumed, wrongly perhaps, that if anything was amiss
I'd rectify it gladly at his specific request.

So far that hasn't occurred but I remain as always, open to correction.
Turly tho, since your remonstration of over-loquacity I have indeed tried
to moderate my postings, to the extent that I've refrained from replying to
Andre in a timely manner because before your correction, I wasn't even
aware that there was any sort of limit. I figured that the more Quality in
word and thought, the better. But one man's quality may very well be
aonother man's irksomeness and so I'll try to quench my bubbling spirit for
your sake and the sake of all who read these posts in the hope of gleaning
help in this confusing age.

John: To the first, no. I learned the rules from my past involvement
that posting private offline communications to be rude. Unless with the
express written (typed) permission of the poster. Otherwise I'd have put
in a lot of interesting tidbits I've received over the years from various
characters here on this list.

John: The difference between social and intellectual quality might be a
distinction cut a bit fine, Dr, McWatt, when the society in question is an
intellectual society. (metaphysics ain't for sissies) But I would hope
that an esteemed professor such as yourself would contain your arguments to
the more intellectual side, seeing as that's basis of your implied critique
of moi. And your purported modus operandi. etc.

Mine took off in a huff. Seems that the urges of philospohical discussion
and the need for wife-pleasing are somewhat at odds. Sad to say, but I
certainly enjoy your thoughts and the compliment or your attention.
