Sorry for so many messages! I just found the abridged version of the Pirsig
quote that Struan used. It was in SODV.
To see the original version that I have referenced, which has almost every
line, word-for-word, that was later used in SODV, but that also includes
extensive between-the-lines commentary by the Narrator himself, go to the
last 3 pages of ZMM ch 19. It starts as "The world now, according to
Phaedrus...."
