Hi, All-
I'm new to the MOQ discussion group, so I'll introduce myself first. My
name is Bradley Stone. I'm 33, live in Chicago, and teach 7th and 8th grade
in the inner city here. I've recently finished rereading "Zen and the Art of
Motorcycle Maintenance" and it impacted me greatly, much more so than when I
first read it seven or eight years ago. So, I decided to see if I could find
anything on the net about it, and, well, here I am.
I hope I'm not butting in or stepping on anyone's toes, but I'd like to
comment on the statement below:

<< But few doubt that science,
not metaphysics, will be the final arbiter of what is “real” and “true”
in the areas you mention. >>

This, I think, is a completely valid point. Even those who change their
minds regualrly about what IS "real" and "true" according to science are
still doing so ACCORDING TO SCIENCE. I've certainly seen no evidence that
any number of people at all are using any kind of metaphysical framework from
which to determine reality. In fact, how many people even know what the term
"metaphysics" means? Not that that in itself would show that metaphysics
plays no part in their lives, but it may show the perceived lack of
importance of metaphysics relative to science.

Bradley
