Nah, It was just an "expression" - perhaps you would have prefered <<I think you hit

The comment about unconscious sexism applied to the next paragraph anyway, viz :

And no I didn't do a retrofit - I'm hardly writing a novel here.  This seems to me to 
be a general quote
of belonging to contemporary culture. Forgive me if you only meant it in a personal 
sense - I didn't
detect it.  It was only a flippant comment on my part anyway - sorry it got to you so 
hard.
