Khaled,
Questions regarding the Quran, reading the Quran as a westerner lacks
the understanding of just what it is. As I understand,
Islam in the purest, recites the Quran from memory in arabic
and has done so until recently due to the same reason of any
representation
Of God or his word is tainting it's holiness. To interpret the Qu'ran,
Muslims use a form of exegesis known as tafsir.
Do you know anything about this process?

Is that the sound of reason I hear, or are you baiting us.
No one really knows what went wrong and where, and maybe all the above
reasons are to blame, and only time will fix things ( i.e the IRA)

If one looks at he largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia, one
says well there is hope.

So religion is not to blame, a little politics, a little colonialism, a
little oil, a little passion, and there you have a recipe for disaster.

As for assimilating in a new culture, I have posted on that before.
Some things take time. And remember that what freedom you give people
like the Amish, you have to give the rest.
