[David M] Here's my suggestion: SOM describes reality and divides it into subjects and objects. MOQ says, hang on, this division can be eliminated and help us to see things in a new way, look there are patterns we call objective and patterns we call subjective. Lets take all the patterns and call them SQ. Now is there anything unpatterned left over, yes we'll call this DQ, what is DQ, well it is almost nothing! But see what it makes clear: SQ is not all there is.
[Case] Several points first of all who says the MoQ and SOM are the only options. Other metaphysics revolve around good and evil, life and death, us and them, all sorts of dualism can be imagined and have been pursued. The MoQ or at least Taoism embraces the union of opposites in whatever form they take. Defining or "not defining" Quality as anything that can't be patterned moves away from the idea that the Tao is The Way. It can not be defined because it is ever changing but it can be perceived. As for DQ it is already an attempt to define Quality through the application of the adjective dynamic. Dynamic and static are manifestations of Quality. A lightning bolt is a dynamic pattern. A river is a dynamic pattern. So is a fire and a snowflake. A highway contains dynamic patterns. Biology is an explosion of dynamic patterns. Economics is a set of dynamic patterns flowing completely from a set of ideas. moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
