That may be true from the domestic perspective, but dare I suggest
that's because the US exports its wars rather than host them on home
turf ? And I could even mention gun laws and mass killings ;-) Anyway
...

Why "Ask not" ... ? In same same way as JFK (and Sachs) phrased the
question I'm making a distinction between

A positive pragmatism - we can and should do something positive, and
this is what I'm going to do ... progress evolves, starting with
tending our own gardens ... the I and we "collaborative" perspective
... and

A negative pragmatism - a kind of self-fulfilling destructive
skeptical cynicism, that says it'll never happen, I'm only going to do
something when "they" do, and even then it will only be in response to
what "they" do, and even then only if the case is "proven" ... the us
and them "adversarial" persective  ... etc.
