Platt: "Makes me wonder what the hippies had that is worth of resurrecting today."
Mike: ...Being open to change is a rare and valuable trait, as long as it's evolving toward higher quality. Keeping the good static stuff and being willing to let go of other static stuff if it can be improved. That's quite worthy of resurrection if you ask me. I'm sure there were just as many immoral hippies as moral ones. But I assume that "moral crowd" refers to the "ideal" version of the lifestyle, which places "real" morality above all else. It's how you treat each other, it's generosity, compassion, and a long list of other admirable ideals. The problem shows up when too many static patterns are discarded in favor of dynamic quality as change for it's own sake; if you give up too many static patterns, suddenly you're in an all-around low-quality existence. You may be free, but you're also homeless; Kum Ba Yah.
