Jos, Case (sorry Krimel), et al

This is kinda my point.
Synonyms like definitions are clearly context (usage) dependent -
dynamic things (or for the pedants - not entirely static things)
PROVIDED that context accompanies the definition. As I commented to
Arlo, most meaning is fortunately not attached to the definition, but
to the usage, and not all usage is intellectual.

The way I look at definitions, is they are an attempt at
"distinctions" - the first cut is the deepest in taxonomy / ontology -
and the process of their use can lead to deep distinctions becoming
"divisions" - silos, barriers to real communication.

I prefer a balance of unity to a world made entirely of divisions.
Nothing against definitions in their place, but I am against
defintions as an exclusive pre-condition to communication and
interaction.

Processes without pre-conditions. Ring any bells ?
