Hi Keith I had the same question for Ron about the original reference. In terms of supporting an emergent view of evolution (and hence the MoQ itself) I think Arlo has said it for me.
Juts wanted to add that it's great to see the Principia Cyberbnetica links to Turchin and Heilighen - favourites of mine blogged many times - with some key links to Pirsig's MoQ too.
