Hi David, I mentally translate substance as "the stuff of reality" ... thereby avoiding jumping to presumptions about its form, material or otherwise. Often thought the modern period English to German translation of stuff to stoff might have been a root of this misunderstanding. Be good to find evidence for that ..... I'm currently reading (well attempting) McKeon's full works of Aristotle.
Anyway, I see a very dynamic "process" reality, as you know, including all its potentials. I shall have to follow the Wikipedia links you suggest. Thanks.
