Hi folks Take a look at Aristotle on Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristotle#Substance.2C_potentiality_and_actuality especially the bit on: Substance, potentiality and actuality I see Aristotle, like me, and so should Pirsig I'd suggest, sees potential as inseparable from 'dynamei'. Also note that where Wiki translates the Greek used by Aristotle as 'matter', others think that what Aristotle meant is more like what we mean by 'energy', i.e. pure potential. What could be more dynamic? So what is the ontological status of the potential & possible? Try Wiki on 'modal realism' for a wild and very hard to refute option. Any thoughts? Other than this makes your brain hurt?
